NBA 2K25 - THE PERFECT JUMPSHOT + SHOOTING TIPS

NBA 2K25 - THE PERFECT JUMPSHOT + SHOOTING TIPS

Welcome back to the 2K Blog! Now that the game has been out for a few weeks, we're going to spend a few minutes talking about the perfect jumpshots for 5'9 - 6'4 players, 6'5 - 6'9 players, 6'7 - 6'9 players and our big boys and girls at 6'10+.

We've listed a few of our favourites including the Base, Upper Release 1 and 2, as well as visual cues, release speed and the minimum attributes required for each position and height.

Before we get into the Jump Shot Creator, here are some tips and settings you should flick on!

SHOT TIMING PROFILE: HIGH RISK-REWARD - the green window is huge but if you mistime it, it's a guaranteed miss!

SHOT FEEDBACK: ALL SHOTS - this is for feedback on timing across all shots in the game.

SHOT METER: TURN IT OFF - a scary thought, especially for new players, but it does give you a little boost for a wider green window and you get to practice the timing of your shot based on the action, which will help more with online play.

Now, let's get into the fun stuff, below are some of our favourite jump shots for every height, including the graded scores for Release Height, Release Speed, Defensive Immunity and Timing Stability.

5'9-6'4

Mid range 90+ OR 3 PT 90+

Base: Kyrie Irving Visual Cue: JUST after Push
Upper Release 1: Oscar Robertson Release Speed: Very Quick
Upper Release 2: Anfernee Simons Blending: 80% O, 20% Simons
Release Height: A Def Immunity: A-
Release Speed: A+ Timing Stability: B+

A super smooth jump shot that's hard to contest. It has a high arc and works best if you release the shot when the ball gets to your players head. Another visual cue is when the front foot begins to kick out = perfect time to release!

Base: Steph Curry Visual Cue: Push
Upper Release 1: Collin Sexton Release Speed: Very Quick
Upper Release 2: Oscar Robertson Blending: 30% Sexton, 70% Oscar
Release Height: B- Def Immunity: A-
Release Speed: A+ Timing Stability: A

Perfect release point when the ball gets to the top of your players head, but remember, this is a little quicker than the Kyrie base.

6'5-6'9

Mid range 83+ OR 3 PT 83+

Base: Jarret Culver Visual Cue: After Push
Upper Release 1: Oscar Robertson Release Speed: Very Quick
Upper Release 2: Troy Brown Jr.  Blending: 70% Oscar, 30% TBJ
Release Height: A+ Def Immunity: A-
Release Speed: A Timing Stability: D+

A very smooth, single motion. Great for pull up shooting and catch and shoot players.

6'7-6'9

Mid range 82+ OR 3 PT 82+

Base: Jarret Culver Visual Cue: After Push
Upper Release 1: Franz Wagner Release Speed: Very Quick
Upper Release 2: Troy Brown Jr.  Blending: 70% Oscar, 30% TBJ
Release Height: A+ Def Immunity: B-
Release Speed: A+ Timing Stability: D+

Great for poppers and spot up shooters!

6'10+

Mid range 66+ OR 3 PT 66+

Base: Yves Missi Visual Cue: Before Push
Upper Release 1: Dirk Nowitzki Release Speed: Very Quick
Upper Release 2: Kevin Love Blending: 60% Dirk, 40% K Love
Release Height: D+ Def Immunity: B+
Release Speed: A Timing Stability: F

Actions at this height are naturally slower but this base helps speed things up.

So, there it is! Give these a go, experiment with different player builds and jumpshots and let us know how you go. Drop a comment if you find a better build and we'll check it out ✌️
